The season's coldest day was reported in Delhi on Friday with the minimum temperature recorded at 4.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average.

According to the Northern Railway, 35 trains were cancelled while 14 were running late due to dense fog in and around Delhi. One train had to be rescheduled.

The city was engulfed by dense fog with the visibility slumping to 200 metre and the humidity at 8.30 a.m was recorded at 97 percent, according to the weather office.

"Today was the season's coldest morning. Dense fog in Delhi and it's adjoining areas continue to affect the visibility. The weather is likely to remain the same in the coming days," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The sky during the day will be clear and the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 18 degrees celsius.

Thursday's maximum temperature settled at 17.3 degree Celsius, four notches below the season's average while the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.9 degree Celsius, one notch below the season's average.
