Chilly and foggy conditions continued to play havoc with air and train traffic in northern West Bengal for the second day Thursday. While as many eight flights were cancelled from Bagdogra airport, several trains were running well behind schedule.
With fog reducing visibility below 50 metres, air traffic from Bagdogra remained suspended with as many as eight flights getting cancelled. Four flights were cancelled Wednesday owing to the fog.
Several long-distance trains including the Saraighat Express, the Kamrup Express and the Brahmaputra Mail have been running well behind the schedule with the dense fog warranting speed limits.
The lower visibility also resulted in several road accidents. Three people including a woman were injured after a truck hit a electric post near Bagdogra.
The lowest temperature has been hovering around 5-8 degrees in most part of north Bengal.
