French first division football league side Monaco has announced that former France midfielder Claude Makelele has been named the new technical director of the team.
Makelele, a former Chelsea and Real Madrid star, has been the coach of Bastia before he was sacked in 2014, reports Xinhua.
The 42-year-old former French international had previously been an assistant coach at Paris Saint-Germain after retiring as a player at the capital club in May 2011.
Monaco said on Thursday that Makelele's role "will be to assist the vice-president, Vadim Vasilyev, in all sporting matters".
