Honduras' former president Rafael Callejas has entered a plea of guilty for the accusations related to world football's governing body FIFA bribery scandal.
According to Cuban news agency Prensa Latina, Callejas, who also headed the Honduran Football Federation from 2002 until August 2015, pleaded guilty before a United States' federal judge from a court in Brooklyn, New York, reports Xinhua news agency.
"I know it was wrong to ask and accept secret briberies," said the 72-year-old former president of Honduras (1990-1994) to Judge Robert Levy on Monday.
The judgment will be given on August 5. According to the law, each accusation, one for criminal association and electronic fraud, has a maximum jail sentence of 20 years.
Callejas is one of the 42 individuals and entities accused in an investigation held for a total of $200 million in briberies to obtain broadcasting rights of FIFA games and tournaments.
