Four criminals involved in several crimes including cattle smuggling were arrested in Gurgaon after police chased them for some 20 km, officials said on Tuesday.
The criminals, from Haryana's Mewat district, were caught after a gun battle with police.
Acting on a tip, a Crime Branch team stopped two pick-up vans near Badshahpur early on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Balbir Singh said 10 criminals travelling in the vehicles opened fire at police.
As police retaliated, the criminals sped towards Sohna. Police chased them for over 20 km. Four criminals were arrested and six others escaped.
During the chase, one of the vans overturned, injuring two criminals. Two policemen also sustained minor injuries.
Four pistols were seized from the criminals, police said.
