Four people, including two Pakistanis and a Bangladeshi, were sentenced to five years in jail in Bahrain for abducting and assaulting an Indian carpenter working in that country, a media report said Tuesday.
The 42-year-old victim was forced into a car and attacked by six assailants. They also made him sign a statement, admitting that he owed them Bahraini Dinar 400, before stealing his wallet, Gulf Daily News reported.
The carpenter later reported the incident to police and identified some of them.
The High Criminal Court Monday sentenced to jail four of the attackers -- two Pakistanis, a Bangladeshi and an Indian -- after they were found guilty of assault, theft and abduction. One of the Pakistanis was also convicted of impersonating a policeman. They will be deported after completing their sentences.
The remaining two assailants have not been identified.
