Skipper Steve Smith and David Warner (54) repaired the early damage caused by pacer Umesh Yadav to help Australia reach a comfortable 131/1 at lunch on the opening day of the fourth and final cricket Test here on Saturday.
At lunch, Smith, unbeaten on 72, looked on course for his third century of the series while Warner made the most of the life he got in the very first over to remain undefeated on 54 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium here.
For India, Yadav provided the vital breakthrough of opener Matt Renshaw (1), when the pacer went through the defences of the southpaw.
Brief Scores: Australia 131/1 (Steve Smith 72 not out, David Warner 54 not out, Umesh Yadav 1/29) vs India.
