France Thursday condemned the attack on a UN convoy in Somalia's capital Mogadishu and reiterated support to Somali authorities to cope with "terrorism risks", foreign ministry spokesman Romain Nadal said.

Wednesday's attack which left four dead must not remain unpunished, Nadal added after a daily e-press briefing.

Paris paid condolences to the families of the victims and Somali officials and expressed its solidarity with them in their battle to restore stability, Xinhua reported citing the spokesman.

On Wednesday, a car bomb hit a UN convoy near the capital's international airport. No casualties were reported among UN staff but four Somali policemen were killed in the explosion.

Al Qaeda linked Al Shabeb group claimed responsibility for the attack.
