A 51-year-old French tourist died after being run over by a speeding car in Mizoram, police said here Monday.
"French tourist Didier Gauthier was hit by a speeding car Sunday night when it tried to avoid a collision with a taxi. Gauthier was crossing a road when he was knocked down by the car and died on the spot," a police official told reporters.
The accident occurred in the southern town of Chawngte in Lawngtlai district, 185 km from capital city Aizawl.
The Mizoram government has informed the Foreign Regional Registration Officer in New Delhi, who would inform the French embassy, the officil said.
