After a string of meetings to solve the FTII row becoming inconclusive, a fifth meeting between officials of the information and broadcasting ministry and striking students is now to be held on October 20, a member of the students council said late on Thursday.

Ranjit Nair, a member of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) students' core committee, said the next meeting will be held on October 20, while the venue and time is yet to be decided upon.

The students have been protesting against the appointement of actor and BJP member Gajendra Chauhan as the chairman of the Pune-based premier institute.

In the last meeting, which was held on October 10 in Mumbai, the information and broadcasting secretary had ensured a meeting with Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting) Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to take the negotiations forward.
