Spain's Garbine Muguruza has done her third seeding no harm on Day 2 of the Australian Open after she was on court for all of 60 minutes during her first-round demolition of Anett Kontaveit at the Melbourne Park here on Tuesday.

Fans barely had time to get to their seats on the centre court before the 22-year-old Muguruza swept her Estonian opponent 6-0, 6-4, reports Xinhua.

It was the first time the 2015 Wimbledon finalist played a match since withdrawing from the Brisbane International with a foot injury two weeks ago. But following her win, she told the crowd she felt fully fit.

"I had a few problems in my foot but I have recovered now," she said.

It is the first time Muguruza has been seeded in the top four, admitting that it adds extra pressure. She added now that she has won her first round, the third seed can resume focus on playing good tennis.

"I am very happy. I was very nervous. Every match is very different. You always have to be prepared, always have to be ready for the other player to make a great performance. Always the first rounds are really tough but I'm really excited to be back here and into the second round," she said.

Muguruza will face one-time Wimbledon semi-finalist Kirsten Flipkens in the second round after the Belgian won in three sets against Mirjana Lucic-Baroni.
