New Deportivo La Coruna coach Gaizka Garitano said here that he joins the football club with high hopes and is content to have a one-year deal.
Garitano, who formerly coached Valladolid and Eibar, on Friday faced reporters just an hour after Deportivo announced they have signed him for the 2016-17 season, reports Efe.
"What they offered me is a one-year deal and I think it's fair because the coach has to demonstrate his value. I don't care that it's one year. I see it as logical, we coaches need to show our worth every day," he told the media.
He said he was happy and proud to have been selected from among the candidates to succeed the dismissed Victor Sanchez del Amo as coach of Deportivo, who finished 15th in La Liga last season.
Garitano said the team's pre-season phase will begin July 7.
