The West Indian opener smashed 17 sixes and 13 fours - 154 runs off boundaries - and shared an 167-run opening stand of 167 with Tillakaratne Dilshan.
Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the only Pune bowler to have a economy rate of under six while Luke Wright also bowled well picking up a wicket and giving away just 26 runs off his four overs.
