The Congress Wednesday took a dig at ex-Indian Army chief Gen. V.K. Singh over misuse of secret funds, saying his "conduct was indecent" and urged him to be "sincere while making statements".

"His conduct was indecent. He should be sincere while making such remarks," Congress spokesperson Raj Babbar told reporters while referring to Gen. V.K. Singh's allegations that the army paid money to Jammu and Kashmir politicians for getting certain things done.

"Such statements diminish the glory of the Indian Army, a very respected institution. The former army chief should keep in mind that there are some sensitive states," he said.

Replying to a query over a leaked army report which has reportedly indicted V.K. Singh of misusing secert funds, Babbar said "the government was looking into the issue".

He wondered why reports related to Gen. V.K. Singh get leaked while referring to his earlier letter to the prime minister when he was still the army chief.

"His statements have resulted in strange kind of situation. No former army chief has made such statements," said Babbar.
