Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino was diagnosed with a fractured bone in his right hand.

The centre-forward was on target in Wednesday night's 2-0 victory over Lazio but had to be withdrawn before the match finished as he felt some pain in the hand. Tests Thursday showed that the third metacarpal there had fractured, reports Xinhua.

Gilardino is expected to play with a protective cast this weekend when Genoa visit Hellas Verona. He has scored 13 Serie A goals this season and 172 in his top flight career.
