Georgia is considering ways to join the fight against the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria, the defence ministry said Wednesday.
"Georgia, as a strategic partner of the United States and one of NATO's most interoperable countries, is considering to contribute to the goals of anti-IS coalition," Xinhua quoted the ministry as saying in a statement.
Different ways were being discussed and a final decision would be made by the highest political authorities, it said.
Georgia offered troops to the NATO mission in Afghanistan and also to the EU peacemaking mission in the Central African Republic.
