Germany's Jung wins equestrian gold in individual eventing

German rider Michael Jung has successfully defended his Olympic title in individual eventing, winning his country's first gold medal of the Rio Games.

Riding Sam, the 34-year-old is only the third rider in Olympic history to win gold in successive Games, reports Efe.

Joining Jung on the podium on Tuesday were silver medalist Astier Nicolas of France and US rider Phillip Dutton, who won the bronze medal atop Mighty Nice.

In the team competition, France won gold ahead of Germany and Australia.
