The German armed forces are preparing to deliver the so-called "non-lethal military materials" to the Kurdish fighters in northern Iraq, a media report said Monday.

In order to improve the protection of the Kurds in the fight against Islamic State (IS), the German armed forces are preparing to deliver 4,000 bulletproof vests, 200 radio units and 680 night vision devices, Xinhua quoted German media Spiegel Online as saying in a report.

The first aircraft with the equipment materials could possibly leave later this week.

The comprehensive list of the delivery also covers approximately 4,000 helmets as well as 20 metal detectors and 30 mines probes to Kurdistan.

In addition, the local Kurdish fighters should also get 40 tackle boxes with tools, said Spiegel Online.

However, the German government has not published a fixed schedule in the issue of deliveries of arms so far. A final decision about a possible list of weapons will be made Wednesday.
