The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has collected Rs. 200 crore property tax under the early bird scheme.
Under the scheme announced by the government, 5 percent rebate was given to those who pay property tax by April 30.
The municipal body had collected Rs. 177 crores under the same scheme during 2016-16.
Nearly 2,40,000 tax payers have availed the opportunity, the GHMC said in a statement on Saturday. This year, big corporate companies and banks have come forward to pay their property tax under the scheme.
As the government waived property tax up to Rs. 1,200, the GHMC loss revenue up to Rs.20 crore.
The urban body had collected Rs.1,050 crore as property tax during 2015-16. It had a budget of Rs.5,550 crore for the year.
