A man was beaten to death by the father and brothers of a girl after he was caught molesting her here, police said.
The incident took place in the Ghazipur area when Vidyarthi Prasad (48), a carpenter, tried to molest a 17-year-old girl of a neighbour, residing in Sutva Taal area of Ismailganj.
The girl immediately raised an alarm which woke up her father and two brothers.
On coming to know of the incident, the three started beating Prasad. Other neighbours tried to intervene but could not stop the beating till Prasad fell unconscious. Police were called and the profusely bleeding man was taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police lodged a complaint against Jai Prakash and Pintu, brothers of the girl who attacked Prasad, and they were later arrested.
The body of Prasad has been sent for post-mortem examination while the assailants have been sent to jail.
