Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt says having a wishlist of qualities and comparing your date to it may lead you to miss out on their more subtle qualities.
The 32-year-old says check lists are "doomed".
"Those are doomed because you're guaranteed to not be paying attention to the actual person," Gordon-Levitt said on a recent episode of TV show "TakePart Live", reports people.com.
"No person is going to fit into a quantified list," he added.
"But look, I'm not gonna say that I'm completely guiltless in this. We all have our lists," he said.
Also, "don't compare your relationship to a movie".
"If you're constantly comparing your real life to stuff you've seen on the screen, you're always going to be disappointed, because real life is not as simple as that," he said.
"I think real life is a lot more beautiful," he added. "And look, I love movies, but even the best movie can never be the same as real life."
