Goa was vulnerable to a terror attack, especially because it attracts foreign tourists, Director General of Police T.N. Mohan said on Wednesday.

"Terror-wise, Goa is vulnerable. We are getting foreign tourists, they could be targets," Mohan told reporters on the sidelines of a police event.

"Goa is a popular tourist destination. We are prepared for this.

"We have our ATS (Anti Terrorism Squad). We have IRBs (India Reserve Battalion), which is depoloyed especially during season. And we work on the basis of intelligence provided to us by intelligence agencies."

Goa attracts more than three million tourists annually, half a million of who are foreigners.

Asked about the death of security personnel at the Pathankot air base in Punjab, Mohan said: "Collateral damage happens because they (terrorists) come ready to get killed. Therefore, a certain level of damage is obvious.

"Wherever such an incident happens, damage will happen. That is because those who are intruding come prepared for death. Collateral damage cannot be ruled out in any act of terror."
