A woman from Goa who was working as a maid in the United Arab Emirates has told police she was robbed and beaten with a leather belt for over two months by her Indian-origin employers there.
The woman has registered a complaint at the Collem police station against Allan Rodrigues and his wife Ester on charges of abusing her for over two months in Sharjah in October-December last year.
Both Allan and Ester are originally from Goa and have been staying in Sharjah for several years now, the woman said.
"The woman has said in her complaint that she was beaten with a leather belt and robbed of her gold chain, mobile phone and other ornaments by the Rodrigues couple in Sharjah where she was working as a maid," police sub-inspector Sachin Lokre said Tuesday.
The woman filed the complaint soon after returning to India earlier this month.
