Gopal Subramanium seeks officers for DDCA probe

Former solicitor general Gopal Subramanium, who heads the Delhi government's proposed panel to inquire into the "DDCA scam", has asked National Security Advisor Ajit Doval for officers who will make up his investigating team.

In a letter he sent on Monday to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Subramanium said he had written to Doval and requested him to suggest the names of competent officers to become part of the probe.

"I have requested him (Doval) in a professional manner to forward me the names of such candidates as could suitabily constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and to assist the Commission (of inquiry)," he wrote.

Subramanium said he wrote to the NSA in view of the fact that the central government itself called upon the Delhi government to get an investigation into the irregularities of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) done.

"This means that the central government would render all possible assistance in this regard."

Subramanium said he wanted men of character, loyalty, integrity, dispassion, independence and impartiality.

"Such officers in the Indian Police Service are not difficult to find. I am sure Doval will honour my request."

The Delhi Cabinet, on December 21, approved setting up of a Commission of Inquiry under Subramanium to probe alleged irregularities in DDCA.

Subramanium on Monday had assured Kejriwal of a "clean" investigation into the affairs of the cricket body.
