The government is fully committed to promoting telecom manufacturing and exports, newly-appointed Telecom Secretary J.S. Deepak said here on Friday.
"In addition to ICT (information and communications technologies) services, India is now getting recognized globally as a centre for developing innovative, cost-competitive yet high-quality products in the telecom sector," he said at 'India Telecom 2016' here.
He said the government is fully committed to promoting telecom manufacturing and exports.
"Telecom equipment is increasingly being differentiated by design and software -- areas in which India has very strong and proven capabilities," Deepak observed.
He said the competitive nature of the Indian market could also benefit other developing countries that would do well to source telecom products that combined innovation with affordability.
'India Telecom 2016' - the 7th international buyer-seller meet - has been organised by Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council.
