Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu Wednesday said the government was working on the contours of building 100 smart cities.
"The government is working on the concept of smart city and the contours of implementing the project for building 100 such cities," Naidu said in the Lok Sabha.
For developing 100 smart cities -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project -- Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced a budgetary allocation of Rs.7,060 crore.
Naidu said all stakeholders will be consulted in the matter. He added this scheme was discussed at a recent meeting of urban development ministers of states and union territories.
