The GSM subscribers increased by 1.78 million in August, which is an increase of 0.26 percent from the previous month, data released by Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) said here Tuesday.
Total number of GSM subscribers as of August 2013 was at 674.41 million. Bharti Airtel has maximum subscribers with 192.22 million users.
However, Vodafone lost over 85,000 users and its base shrunk to 154.3 million, it added.
According to TRAI data, as of March there were 898.02 million subscribers across the GSM, CDMA and landline space. India's population is 1.25 billion
