Hamburg suffered another injury blow as Marcell Jansen will be out for six weeks due to an ankle injury, the club has announced.
German international Jansen played only 24 minutes against Chile at the international friendly as the left back tore his ligaments in his left foot. Jansen underwent a surgery Thursday, reported Xinhua.
"We are expecting him to be back in six weeks," Hamburg coach Mirko Slomka said at an official press conference.
The 28-year-old is another name on Hamburg's long injury list as Pierre Michel Lasogga, Slobodan Raijkovic, Rafael van der Vaart, Maximilian Beister, Petr Jiracek, Milan Badelj, Jarsolav Drobny, Zhi-Gin Lam, Ivo Ilicevic and Hakan Calhanoglu are all sidelined due to injuries.
