Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday adopted Keorak village in the district of Kaithal to develop it as an 'adarsh village', an official said.

Keorak is the 25th village that has been adopted by the legislators to be developed as an 'adarsh village' under the Vidhayak Adarsh Gram Yojana (member of legislative assembly model village scheme).

The chief minister said the main objective of the scheme was to initiate holistic development of all the identified gram panchayats.

The scheme is along the lines of the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana -- a central government initiative -- for the empowerment of deprived sections.
