Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia had a miraculous escape Thursday when his plane crashed immediately after taking off from the airport here, official sources said.
The plane was barely 15-20 feet in the air when it went down. A fire broke out in the aircraft but it was not immediately clear what caused the accident and whether the blaze preceded or followed the crash.
The Haryana government plane had five or six people on board.
Airport sources said the governor was pulled out of the plane and rushed to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. Doctors let him go after medical examination.
No one in the plane suffered serious injuries, the sources added.
The governor was flying to New Delhi when the accident happened. The sources said the aircraft suffered extensive damage.
