The teenaged son of a businessman who was kidnapped for a ransom of Rs.6 crore has been rescued and his abductor arrested, the Haryana Police said Friday.
"The Haryana Police have arrested an accused who had kidnapped a boy, namely Ketan Sardana and demanded a ransom of Rs.6 crore from the family of the victim from Karnal," Director General of Police Shriniwas Vashisht said.
Police rescued the victim from Sector 4 of Panchkula town, adjoining Chandigarh.
The ransom amount was also recovered from the arrested accused, Pankaj Gambhir, a resident of Panipat town.
The victim's father is a well-to-do businessman of Karnal town, 130 km from here.
"Taking a serious note of the matter, Karnal police constituted a team of 100 police officials and started the investigations," the DGP said.
