The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Tuesday sought a status report within two weeks regarding shortage of teachers in Himachal Pradesh University here.
Taking suo motu notice of a newspaper report over the shortage of the faculty, a division bench of Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Tarlok Singh Chauhan issued notice to the state and university and listed the matter's next hearing on August 22.
The report had said almost in every department the admission process is about to complete but the appointment of teachers has not been done till now.
It said no appointment has been made in the law department since 2000, resulting in shortfall of 11 teachers. Likewise, 15 posts of teacher are lying vacant in the department of education.
