Heavy rainfall in the national capital, Gurgaon and Noida on Saturday led to water-logging in many areas, disrupting traffic and causing difficulties to commuters.

The Delhi traffic police said there were gridlocks in many parts of the city including Mahipalpur, ITO junction, Sri Aurobindo Marg, Kalandi Kunj, New Friends Colony and Sohna Road near Gurgaon.

Many parts of Lajpat Nagar, Defence Colony, Punjabi Bagh and Seelampur are submerged in water, police said.

The heavy rainfall and the water-logging have left the commuters clueless.

"I have been struck in the half way of Defence Colony flyover going towards Lajpat Nagar for more than an hour now. There is no respite," Raman Batra, who works in a bank, told IANS.

Delhi received 93.8 mm of rainfall till 8.30 a.m. on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. It has forecast more rainfall.

The minimum temperature settled four notches below the season's average at 23 degrees Celsius.

The humidity at 2.00 p.m. was 89 percent.

The day's maximum temperature is likely to hover around 28 degrees Celsius.

Friday's maximum temperature settled one notch below the season's average at 32 degrees Celsius while the minimum settled slightly below the season's average at 26.2 degrees Celsius.
