Two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp Monday appointed internationally-acclaimed automotive technology expert Markus Braunsperger as its chief technology officer (CTO).

According to the company, the move builds on its vision to further augment its technology capabilities through the best of global talent, global alliances and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

"We have taken immense strides in building our in-house R&D capabilities over the past three years. We have also significantly scaled up our technology know-how by building a team of highly-skilled engineers and designers from all over the world, and used alliances with leading global technology and design firms to imbibe world class best practices and processes," said Pawan Munjal, vice chairman, chief executive officer and managing director, Hero MotoCorp.

Last year, the company brought in globally-renowned engine specialists Markus Feichtner to lead the newly-created division of "engine design and development".

The two-wheeler manufacturer is trying to spur up its in-house technology development at its research and development (R&D) centre and has also tied up with three international companies for technology alliances.

Hero MotoCorp was able to access the technology inputs from its erstwhile partner Honda till 2014. Both the companies ended there 27-year-old joint venture two years ago.
