Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday warned of raids in government schools in rural areas of the hill state to ensure the presence of teachers.
"If any teacher is found missing from schools without sanctioned leave, they would be dismissed from service," he said while addressing a gathering at Dharech village near here.
It was the responsibility of the panchayat representatives to ensure the presence of teachers in schools, and staff at revenue offices and health centres, the chief minister said.
Virbhadra Singh said his government aimed at providing all basic facilities to the people at their doorsteps and improving the living conditions of people residing in rural and far-flung areas.
