Himachal Pradesh extended the retirement age of national and state awardee teachers, an official said on Saturday, which is observed as Teachers' Day.
The cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Friday decided to give an extension of two years of service to all the national awardee teachers, said a government spokesperson.
They will also be entitled for a pay increment.
For the state awardees, the government has decided to give one year of extension in service.
These bonanzas will be applicable from the next fiscal, he added.
Officials said the hill state has 10,738 primary, 2,292 middle, 846 high and 1,552 senior secondary schools.
