Himachal panchayat by-polls Nov 30

The by-elections for 232 vacant posts in Panchayati Raj institutions, the village-level third tier of governance, in Himachal Pradesh will be held Nov 30, an official said here Monday.

The seats include 13 posts of panchayat samiti, 32 posts of pradhan and 160 gram panchayat members, an election official told IANS.

He said the nomination papers will be scrutinised Nov 17 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is Nov 19.

The counting of votes, except for zila parishad and panchayat samitis, will be held after the voting is over, the official added.

Counting for the members of zila parishad and panchayat samitis will be held Dec 1.
