Hockey growing fast in Nigeria

Hockey has seen a remarkable growth in Nigeria, an official said Tuesday.

Tunde Popoola, director of Organisation at the Nigeria Hockey Federation, said the growth was evident in the high standard of the game so far, reports Xinhua.

This was specially so in the fourth edition of the International Energy Insurance Hockey League, he said.

"In terms of performances, we are seeing a very high standard from the players, officials and the administrators," Popoola said.

Nine teams are taking part in the men's category and eight in the women's category.
