Former Hong Kong chief secretary Rafael Hui Si-yan was found guilty Friday of accepting millions of dollars in bribes from Sun Hung Kai Properties co-chairman Thomas Kwok and two middlemen.
The nine-member jury convicted Hui of three counts of misconduct in public office, one count of conspiracy of misconduct in public office and one count of conspiracy to offer an advantage to public servant, Xinhua reported.
Thomas Kwok Ping-kwong, co-chairman of Sun Hung Kai Properties, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy of misconduct in public office.
He had offered HK$8.5 million ($1.09 million) to Hui in return for the former official to be the company's eyes and ears in government.
However, his brother Raymond Kwok Ping-luen was cleared of all charges.
The two middlemen -- former Hong Kong stock exchange official Francis Kwan Hung-sang and Sun Hung Kai Properties executive director Thomas Chan Kui-yuen -- were each found guilty of two counts of charges.
The jury delivered its verdict after five days of deliberations.
