Ajit Prasad has been appointed full-time director of Indian Institute of Management - Lucknow on Monday.
The union Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry made the appointment.
Prasad is an alumnus of St. Stephen's College of the University of Delhi, the Delhi School of Economics, International Management Institute and London School of Economics, an IIM spokesman said.
The director's post at the premier institution was lying vacant for a year. Prasad was associated with S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai as professor of strategy.
His past industry experience includes working with the State Bank of India, the Planning Commission, and Steel Authority of India, the IIM spokesman said.
