The Inter-ministerial Group (IMG) has recommended to the coal ministry issuance of show-cause notice to 30 coal block allottees because of production shortcomings, a source in the ministry said Tuesday.
The government had formed the IMG in July 2012 to review progress of coal blocks allocated to firms for captive use, while 58 mines were issued show-cause notice for their failure to develop blocks within the stipulated timeline.
The government had earlier accepted the IMG's recommendations for de-allocation of 13 mines and deduction of bank guarantees of 14 allottees.
