All income tax offices will remain open till Saturday midnight to facilitate manual filing of income tax returns for the 2016-17 fiscal on the last day fixed for such filings, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said on Friday.
"August 5, being a Saturday, the CBDT has directed that necessary arrangements be made for receiving income tax returns up to midnight at all income tax offices throughout the country," an official statement said here.
In view of the difficulties faced by taxpayers, the due date for filing of ITR for 2016-2017, or Assessment Year 2017-2018, was extended till August 5 from earlier July 31.
