India and Bangladesh on Monday discussed ways to take forward multi-sectoral cooperation following the agreements signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Dhaka last year.

The issues came up for discussion during talks between Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar and his visiting Bangladeshi counterpart Shahidul Haque here.

"Building the partnership with another close neighbour," external affairs ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted.

"The foreign secretaries of India and Bangladesh hold talks."

India and Bangladesh signed 22 key agreements during Modi's visit last June, including on prevention of human trafficking, circulation of fake currency notes, setting up an Indian economic zone in Bangladesh and extending a new Indian line of credit of $2 billion.
