India grouped with Pakistan in Asian Games hockey

With the forthcoming 17th Asian Games set to commence Sep 19, the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Wednesday announced the pools for both men's and women's events.

Among the men, two-time winners India have been placed in Pool B alongside defending champions Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Oman and China while South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Bangladesh and Singapore are in Pool A.

In the women's category, India are in Pool A with holders China, Malaysia and Thailand while South Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong are in Pool B.

The gold medal-winning teams will be ensured of a 2016 Olympic berth at Rio de Janeiro.
