India's Khalin drops to fourth in Bali golf meet

India's Khalin Joshi struggled to a one-under 71 to slip to the fourth position with a two-day total of six-under 138 after round two of the $76,000 Bali National Golf Championship here on Friday.

Khalin, who was tied second after firing a five-under 67 in the first round on Thursday, struggled with a poor short game at the Bali National Golf Club.

However, the 22-year-old Bengaluru-based golfer got something to smile about when he chipped in for birdie on the challenging par-three 17th hole.

"I'm disappointed with my round. I didn't putt or hit the ball good. Overall it was a bad day but I'm happy with my birdie on 17. That birdie sort of gave me some positives when I ended my round," said Khalin, who has a two-day total of six-under 138.

Other Indians in the fray, Himmat Rai and Chirag Kumar took the tied 12th and joint 16th positions respectively. Himmat, who scored 73 in the first round, carded three-under 69 that took his total to two-under 142. Chiragh too got a 69 to add to his first round score of 74.

Subhankar Sharma, the fourth Indian in the tournament, continued his struggle and was at joint 63rd spot. He scored five-over 77 to add to his first day score of 73.

Meanwhile, Australia's Jake Stirling stayed patient in the windy conditions to snatch the halfway stage lead with a five-under 67 in the second round of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) event.

The 26-year-old got a total of nine-under 135 to take a two-shot lead at the top. Current Order of Merit leader Hsieh Chi-hsien of Chinese Taipei and Matthew Giles of Australia posted 70 and 69 respectively to share the second place.

Overnight leader Gyeongjun Lee of Korea slipped down the leaderboard following a 75.

Stirling, who won his first ADT title earlier in June, kept things simple and was rewarded with four birdies and one eagle.
