Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Narayana Hrudalaya and Fortis Hospital were among the leading healthcare providers that were honoured at the first India Health & Wellness (IHW) Summit & Awards presented here Friday.
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Shripad Yesso Naik gave away the awards presented by healthydunia.com, a health and wellness information portal.
"We hope this initiative will play an important role in fuelling a fresh debate about what needs to be done, generating new ideas, catalysing innovation and honouring excellence for an industry that is on course to put India on the world map," said Kamal Narayan Omer, director of Blue Pen Media, one of the organisers of the summit.
IHW Summit, 2014 opened recently with some of the leading names in the Indian healthcare sector coming together to discuss concerns, devise solutions and award excellence in the field of healthcare.
The awards were given in 30 categories with the awardees chosen through a rigorous selection process.
While eminent cardiac surgeon Devi Shetty's initiative the Narayana Hrudayala was selected as the Super-Specialty Hospital of the Year, the Apollo Munich Health Insurance was awarded the Health Insurance Provider of the Year.
Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was chosen as the Compassionate Patient Care Hospital of the Year; Walk On Mobile Health Solutions was adjudged the Health App of the Year and Dabur India's Dabur Chyawanprash was selected as the Healthcare Branding Campaign of the Year, among others.
Mumbai-based Kohinoor Hospital was honoured for its eco-friendly initiatives and Delhi's Healthcare at Home was awarded the Ancillary Healthcare Provider of the Year.
In the Single Specialty Hospital of the Year category, Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital emerged the winner.
Leading cardiologist Ashok Seth was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in Medical Care; leading cosmetologist Dr Jamuna Pai was awarded for Pioneering Role in Cosmetic Medicine; Tapan Ghose from Interventional Cardiology at Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon was chosen as the Cardiologist of the Year.
