External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday met Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic and discussed ways of expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

According to a tweet by External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar, during delegation-level talks, the two leaders had a "good discussion" on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, science and technology, information technology, defence, tourism, civil aviation, education and culture, and exchanged views on regional and global issues.

India and Serbia, the successor state of erstwhile Yugoslavia, have traditionally enjoyed deep friendship.

Serbia co-sponsored India's resolutions at the UN for declaring October 2 as International Day of Non-Violence and June 21 as International Day of Yoga.

The two countries are also celebrating 70 years of establishment of diplomatic ties.
