The Indian Army on Tuesday said it has inflicted "heavy damage" on Pakistani posts in retaliatory fire after the Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire in the Naushera sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
One Indian soldier was also martyred in the firing, the Army said.
"Heavy damage to Pak Army posts. Exchange of fire continues. Own one Jawan fatal in Naushehra Sector," the Northern Command of Indian Army said in a tweet.
Defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta said India is "appropriately responding" to ceasefire violations.
"We are appropriately responding in the system we find befitting," the spokesperson said.
Over 100 ceasefire violations from the Pakistani side have taken place since the surgical strikes that India carried out on terror launch pads in the intervening night of September 28-29.
