An Indian national died and another was critically injured when a bus carrying a group of Indian pilgrims met with an accident in Iran on Sunday night, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Monday.
"I have got the report from Indian Embassy in Tehran. A bus carrying 20 Indian pilgrims on way to Qom met with an accident last night," Sushma Swaraj tweeted in response to a request for help from Syed Ali Jaffry.
"Unfortunately, we lost Ms.Kulsum Fatima aged 14 years because of head injuries," she said.
She also said that another Indian national, Mohammad Ali, is in the intensive care unit while 18 others were discharged after first aid.
"Our mission staff is in the hospital to provide any assistance," Sushma Swaraj said.
Qom is a holy city for followers of Shia Islam, as it is the site of the shrine of Fatimah Bint Musa, sister of Imam Ali Ibn Musa Rida.
