A poor cotton farmer's son from Maharasthra's Vidarbha region has been named in the Forbes list of top 40 CEOs in Middle-East countries, announced recently by Forbes.

The distinction-holder is Krishnakumar Taori, the group managing director of Hasan Juma Backer Trading & Contracting Co. Oman.

He hails from a remote village called in Ghuikhed in the backward Amravati district of Vidarbha.

For the first time, Forbes acknowledged the tremendous of Indian business leaders in shaping a vibrant business community in the Arab world by releasing a comprehensive ranking of 40 prominent expats.

"I am happy...Though I have been working in the Middle-East for so many years, my mind is always on how to rehabilitate the maximum number of suicide-hit farmers' families of Vidarbha on a permanent basis. I hope this will help me further to achieve that goal," Taori said in an email statement.

Taori's recognition in the prestigious list was welcomed by the farming community in Yavatmal and other districts who have been benefitted by help from their son-of-the-soil in recent years.

He did his engineering from Government Engineering College, Amravati in 1980 and then completed his M.Tech in Public Health Engineering from VNIT, Nagpur in 1983.

In an effort give back to society, Taori started a computer training centre in his native Ghuikhed village and is now setting up a full-fledged Industrial Training Institute to help promote education and employment opportunities in the region.
